Vryburg, South Africa
The Ennen family trip with Candy and Shea Ennen, son Henry, and Kathleen and Thom Ennen, depart for S Africa on 9Dec 2017 to meet up with and travel with Charlotte Ennen, Peace Corps Volunteer in a village not far from Vryburg SA. Charlotte meets us at the airport after significant delays adding up to over a day due to snow delays departing from Boston. Snow also encountered in London where we had enough time to take the train into London in order to walk around in the freezing cold!!!
Next up was the flight to Johannesburg which included violent turbulence that made it very hard to get any rest.
We arrived and were met by Charlotte and we fetched a van for the 6 of us. Off we went!!!
After a few days of touring to visit Charlotte’s village where she is a teacher, we flew to Cape Town for 5 days. Lots of walking and sightseeing – Table Mountain, Wine Tour, drive to see penguins, a football match in the big stadium and other fun things while based in a great BNB flat that was a steep climb up from the town. We found eating out for lunch and in for dinner was a good blend of sightseeing and resting.
After Cape Town we made our way to Zambia via Zimbabwe. We did river visits, and a day’s safari drive/boat trip to Cobe National park. Wonderful!!! Many animals, with the best being the multi family herd of elephants coming to the river and a stop where we saw 2 white rhinos, including one with a calf by her side. So special.
